Hey, I've got a song for you!
Look, the guy has a thing for a good tune, okay? Ethan Cord is an all-around songwriter and musician whose journey has taken him from gigging around New England to working as a writer/producer in New York City to releasing music the streaming way. Could be silly or serious, full production or unplugged – he'll try anything to get from an inspiration to the point where you say, "Yeah, that sounds good!"

Ethan Cord photo 2Cord's story could be just another small town kid moving to the city where the music gets made. But even now, when everything's online and you can record from anywhere, there's no substitute for the energy and inspiration that comes at you from all sides here in New York. In Ethan Cord's Brooklyn neighborhood it's a short walk from where Jay Z started out to where Biggy Smalls used to hang out. There’s a jazz club on the corner and sounds out of every other car. Hell, you could even walk over to where Barbra Streisand graduated from high school.

How does all this factor into Cord's music? Well, he does write in a variety of different styles, from R&B to Indie to sometimes a little spiritual. Musically, Cord goes for a good groove and lyrics that tell a story, especially one with a sense of humor. With a background in music and visual arts, Cord has worked as a songwriter, vocalist, sideman, bandleader, music producer, engineer, graphic designer and video producer.

Along the way, Cord learned songwriting skills from Brill Building bad-asses like Doc Pomus (Viva Las Vegas, Save The Last Dance For Me), wrote for singers like Lou Christie and Trudy Miller and recorded everything from hip hop to country with musicians around the City. On the visual side, he studied with Milton Glaser ("I ♥ NY") and Ed Benguiat at the School of Visual Arts. Currently based in Brooklyn's BedStuy neighborhood, Ethan Cord releases music and videos on YouTube and streaming platforms like Apple Music and Spotify. Check out the videos posted on this site and feel free to drop him a line or sign up for the mailing list.

Music has meant the world to him, and he's always hoping to share some of that feeling in everything he creates.
